THE HJALTLAND will depart at 3pm on Saturday afternoon due to the adverse weather forecast.

The NorthLink ferry will leave Aberdeen two hours early, and its stop in Kirkwall on Saturday night is also under review.

The ferry operator said that, if the Orkney stop was cancelled, the boat would then sail straight to Lerwick.

Both tonight’s (Friday) sailings to and from Lerwick could also be subject to “weather related delays”, NorthLink warned.

Saturday’s freight sailings are also set to be affected, with the Helliar leaving Aberden four hours early – at 2pm.

Her arrival in to Lerwick the following day could be delayed by as much as eight hours.

The Hildasay’s stop in to Kirkwall is under review, with a “high probability of cancellation”.

Saturday’s sailing of the Hrossey, from Lerwick to Aberdeen, will leave at the usual time of 7pm.
