A WOMAN who admitted driving without insurance has been fined at Lerwick Sheriff Court.
Forty year old Amanda Jane McCartney, of Bressay, was stopped by police in a routine check on Lerwick’s Holmsgarth Road on 20 June this year.
Procurator fiscal Duncan Mackenzie said McCartney “co-operated fully” with police at the time.
She was offered a fixed penalty at the time of the offence, but “simply couldn’t afford to pay it in one go”.
Sheriff Ian Cruickshank fined McCartney £420 – to be paid in monthly instalments – and endorsed her licence with six penalty points.
DRIVING without insurance cost a Lerwick man £420 at Lerwick Sheriff Court on Monday.
Alan David Gunn, of Gressy Loan, was stopped by police in a routine check on the town’s South Road on 18 June.
He admitted driving with a provisional licence and without a qualified pass driver, and doing so without insurance.
The 46 year old “co-operated fully” with police at the roadside, procurator fiscal Duncan Mackenzie told the court.
Sheriff Ian Cruickshank admonished Gunn on the charge of driving with a provisional licence, and fined him £420 for driving without insurance.
Six penalty points were also placed on his driving licence.
