News / Water being brought to Unst to deal with ‘high demand’

WATER is being tankered to Unst after some homes were left without a supply last week.

Scottish Water said there was a “high demand” for water in Unst currently – and asked people to “be mindful and conserve water where possible”.

The company has tankered water up to Unst this week to its water treatment works, in order to ensure customers in the isle get a normal supply.

Some customers in Unst may have experienced a “short interruption” to their water supply last week, Scottish Water said, while engineers repaired leaks and replaced valves on the isles’ network of pipes.

Vidlin also lost water supply on Sunday.

Scottish Water said it was asking people to conserve water where possible, which would help lower the demand.

“This includes turning off any outside taps and checking their residences for any leaks or issues,” it added.
