Weather / Two Westside schools closed for second day

AITH Junior High and Happyhansel Primary are the only two schools closed today (Wednesday) due to the wintry weather and difficult road conditions.

There are some cancellations to school transport while some early morning public bus services were also cancelled.

Parents are asked to check the school bus voicebank for the latest transport updates on 01595 745743.

The public bus voicebank for public bus services is on 01595 745744, while the transport notification on the Shetland News website also carries the latest cancellations and disruptions on the bus network.

Meanwhile, a Met Office yellow weather warning for ice and snow has been extended until midday tomorrow (Thursday).

Conditions are forecast to remain cold and wintry across Shetland for the next couple of days.
