Police / Nearly £20k worth of heroin recovered this week by drugs dogs
HEROIN with a street value of almost £18,000 was recovered in Lerwick on Thursday by Dogs Against Drugs whilst working in partnership with local police officers.
This comes in the same week that drugs dogs, again in partnership with local officers, recovered heroin with a street value of £1,300.
Police area commander chief inspector Chris Sewell said: “I highlighted to the Shetland Community Safety and Resilience Board earlier this week my intention to prioritise targeting those involved in the supply of controlled drugs on Shetland.
“Those involved in the supply of controlled drugs exploit the most vulnerable within our community.
“It is essential, to reduce harm, that we do all that we can to disrupt this criminal activity and bring offenders to justice.
“These significant drugs recoveries once again highlight the excellent partnership working between Police Scotland and the Dogs Against Drugs charity.
“Dogs Against Drugs are a unique community asset at the front line of keeping people safe on Shetland.”
