BRAE eatery Frankie’s has scooped a top prize at a national fish and chip shop awards.

Frankie’s took home the prize for best chip shop (north) at the Scottish Fish and Chip Awards in Glasgow on Monday night.

It was also ‘highly recommended’ in the best dine-in restaurant and best fish supper (north) categories.

Writing on Facebook, Frankie’s said it had been a “brilliant night” at the ceremony in the Double Tree by Hilton.

“Huge thank you to our amazing team and customers,” they added.

The Brae chippy launched in 2008, and in 2015 it was named the UK’s top independent takeaway fish and chip shop.

It was bought in 2020 by Corinna and Mark Hoseason, taking over from Valerie Johnson.

Corinna said they were “delighted” to both be nominated for the awards, and to come home with the best fish and chip shop (north) prize.

“We would like to thank everyone who voted for us and our staff team for their hard work and dedication, as this would not have been possible without them,” she added.
