Community / Lunnasting primary playground given mini makeover by power project volunteers
LUNNASTING Primary School’s playground has had a much-needed revamp, courtesy of volunteers working on the Gremista electricity connection project.
The school’s parent council reached out for assistance in readying the ground for the new equipment earlier this year.
And a team from SSEN Transmission, as well as contractors Morgan Sindall and EMN, leapt into action to help give the playground a mini makeover.
Together the team cleared a flat area of ground ready for the school’s new playground equipment to be installed.
New outdoor blackboards were also fitted so pupils can get creative and draw on them with chalk.
Lunnasting Primary School parent council member Charlotte Allam said the new playground was “fantastic”, with bairns “making great use of it already”.
“The garden project has been a real community effort, and we’re delighted to have had the involvement of SSEN Transmission and local contractors,” she added.
SSEN Transmission’s community liaison manager Thea Groat said they “immediately got a team together” to help after hearing the school’s plea.
“Supporting the community through actions like this is really important to us – the new apparatus looks excellent and we hear that the pupils are thoroughly enjoying their new playground”.
