Business / Shetland News strengthens its reporting team

Shetland News reporter Ryan Nicolson

MOST of our regular readers will have noticed by now, so it is high time to officially welcome Ryan Nicolson to the Shetland News team.

We are delighted that Ryan has agreed to join us as a full-time news reporter.

He is an experienced news and feature writer, brings a wealth of skills to the job and will strengthen our team with his in-depth local knowledge plus a particular interest in local sport.

As has already been demonstrated during the last few weeks, our ability of producing original news stories has greatly improved and we are confident that this will continue over coming months.

Ryan can be contacted by e-mail ryan@shetnews.co.uk or via our generic newsdesk address news@shetnews.co.uk

He joins the existing reporting team of Hans J Marter and Chris Cope.

This is a big change and a major step forward for us; one that has only been made possible thanks to the continued support from the community we serve – our readers as well as the local businesses advertising their services on our pages.

Reading Shetland News will continue to be free of charge.

There are no paywalls or other restrictions to the news and features we publish, but to be able to ensure universal access, we ask our regular readers to consider becoming a member and support us financially with small donations.

More than 600 people are already supporting us in this way. In the absence of any paper sales or licence fee, supporters’ contributions have become an important financial leg to stand on and, besides, are a welcome endorsement of our work.
