DEPUTY first minster Kate Forbes will be among the guests taking part in a recording of a Scottish politics podcast in Lerwick next week.

A new episode of the Holyrood Sources podcast will be recorded at Islesburgh on Tuesday morning.

Forbes will be joined on the panel by Shetland Islands Council leader Emma Macdonald and Northern Isles MP Alistair Carmichael.

Free tickets are available – through this link – for anyone who wishes to be in the audience.

Doors open at 8am, with the recording due to start at 9am before concluding at 10.30am.

The Holyrood Sources podcast launched in 2023, offering political commentary on events in Scotland.

Its hosts include journalist and broadcaster Calum Macdonald, Geoff Aberdein – a former chief of staff to ex-first minister Alex Salmond – and Andy Maciver, founder of the Message Matters PR firm.

The podcast’s trip to Lerwick is part of an islands tour, which has seen the crew already record episodes in Stornoway and Kirkwall.

Meanwhile the Scottish Government is hosting the latest meeting of the Convention of the Highlands and Islands the day before (Monday) at Mareel.

Members of the convention include councils and NHS boards from the Highlands and Islands, as well as agencies like Transport Scotland, VisitScotland and Highlands and Islands Enterprise.

Members of the Scottish Government also attend the meetings, with then-deputy first minster Shona Robison among the attendees at the last convention meeting in March.
