Community / Councillor sends ‘deepest condolences’ after Walls fire death
WESTSIDE councillor Liz Peterson has sent her “deepest condolences” to the family of a person who died in a house fire in Walls this week.
Police Scotland said enquiries are ongoing into the cause of the blaze, which saw six fire appliances called to the scene on Monday evening.
Formal identification is yet to take place, but police say they believe the deceased person is a woman.
Peterson said this had been “a tragic incident” which had “left the community in shock”.
She added she was “very sad to hear” of the fatality, and passed on her “deepest condolences to all the family”.
The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service (SFRS) was alerted to the fire at around 11.10pm on Monday, with the two-storey home found to be ablaze by the time they arrived.
Police Scotland said it attended the scene at around 11.45pm, and that one person was pronounced dead.
It said there were not believed to be any suspicious circumstances surrounding the fire.
