Transport / Single vessel on Yell Sound tomorrow

Yell ferry Daggri.

THE YELL Sound ferry is to reduce to a single vessel again on Tuesday due to a shortage of engineers.

It will run to a shift timetable, with additional runs at 1.10pm from Toft and 1.35pm from Ulsta. Bookings will be available.

The council said anyone booked on the following runs, which have been cancelled, should contact the booking office on 01595 745804 to rebook:

Ulsta to Toft – 0745, 0845, 0945, 1115, 1215, 1355, 1500, 1600 and 1655

Toft to Ulsta 0815, 0915, 1045, 1145, 1245, 1430, 1525, 1630 and 1730

Yell Sound has run with a single vessel on a number of occasions in the fortnight as a result of crew shortages.

This included a three-day stint on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday last week.

Meanwhile the Bluemull Sound route is reducing to a Saturday timetable this afternoon with bookings suspended as the Geira is still not back in service after developing a mechanical fault last week.
