Sport / Burra rowers win their class at Great River Race

BURRA Rowing Club won the Spong Trophy when they came first in the mixed crew category at the Great River Race in London on Saturday.

They completed the 21.6 mile distance from Millwall to East Richmond in a time of 2:29:09 (3:04:09 handicap time).

The Burra rowers include Trish Reid, Alwyn Christie, Emma Jamieson, Lauren Smith, Peter Stewart, Marvin Inkster, Gary Laurenson, and Joanna Inkster.

Two teams from Shetland travelled to the annual race with the Lerwick crew crossing the line in a time of 2:43:28 and in 10th place in the mixed crew category.
