Transport / Bluemull Sound ferry service down to single vessel after mechanical fault
THE BLUEMULL Sound ferry service is being reduced to single vessel this morning (Thursday) due to mechanical problems with the Geira.
It also comes as Yell Sound is also down to a single vessel for the day because of crewing issues.
Yell Sound was single vessel on Wednesday, and will be on Friday too.
The council said Bluemull Sound will run to a Saturday timetable from 10.05am, with bookings suspended.
However the 7.25am Gutcher to Hamarsness and 7.55am Hamarsness to Belmont sailings are cancelled.
The 8.25am Belmont to Gutcher sailing is also cancelled.
The voicebank service said staff intend to do an extra run from Gutcher after 8.50am to honour the 8.40am bookings.
It added that anyone booked on the 8.25am Belmont to Gutcher run will have priority on the extra sailing back from Belmont at around 9.05am.
On Wednesday the Whalsay service also briefly went down to a single vessel due to mechanical issues with the Hendra.
