Transport / Road closure planned for fibre optic cabling works

SHETLAND Islands Council says there will be a planned road closure on the A970 near Tingwall overnight on Monday (19 August) for fibre optic cabling works to take place.

The A970 will be closed between 7pm on Monday evening and 6am on Tuesday morning, between the A971 junction (to/from the West Mainland) and the Linkster junction – a distance of approximately 800 metres.

The council said it is hoped that the works can be completed in a single night but if not, the closure will be repeated on Tuesday night into Wednesday morning.

An alternative route for traffic exists via Gott, Strand and Vatster and traffic will be diverted on this route.
