Marine / New Antarctic arrives in Lerwick to join local pelagic fleet
THE NEW 70 metre midwater pelagic trawler Antarctic has arrived in Lerwick after her maiden trip from the Zamakona shipyard in Bilbao.
Built for the Fiskebas Fishing partnership to a design by Skipsteknisk (Alesund) the contract to build the new vessel was signed by the Spanish yard in November 2021.
A high focus has been given on reliability, low emissions and efficiency in catch handling.
The arrival of the new Antarctic completes the renewal programme of the local pelagic fleet.
