POLICE are appealing for help with their enquiries into two incidents in Lerwick earlier this month and at the end of July.

A bicycle was taken from outside the Thule Bar on the evening of 2 August, while a motor vehicle was damaged on Cairnfield Road between 29 and 30 July.

No further details on these incidents were provided.

Police asked for anyone with information to contact them on telephone 101 or by calling along Lerwick police station.

THE DEVELOPER of a 500MW floating offshore wind farm, planned in an area 40 miles east of Skerries, is hosting a first public exhibition of the project next month.

Irish energy firm ESB said members of its Stoura team would be in attendance to “share and discuss” details of the project with local people.

Project director Dr Cian Desmond said: “This public exhibition is a critical step as we prepare to collect all the information needed for our Environmental Impact Assessment and the submission of planning applications by 2028.”

The company added that a recently completed report by local consultancy firm Voar Energy sets out the skills and infrastructure located in Shetland that could feed into the development, operation, and maintenance of the project.

This work is being done with the objective of designing the project in a manner which can bring long-term highly skilled sustainable employment to the isles, the company said.

The information event will be held in the auditorium of the Shetland Museum and Archives between 2pm and 8pm on 19 September.

SHETLAND Islands Council has now published the restricted ferry timetable that will be in place for the Bressay crossing between 11 and 13 October.

Due to essential maintenance of the Lerwick linkspan, the ferry will operate as foot passenger only service from 7.30pm on Friday 11 October until 10.30pm on Sunday 13 October.

The restricted timetable can be found at www.shetland.gov.uk/ferries/timetable/2

Access to/from the vessel will be provided via gangway from the ferry to the quayside in Lerwick, and via the roro ramp at the Bressay ferry terminal.

Passengers should be aware that the gangway can be steep and there may be a requirement to traverse steep stairs in certain tides.

RADIANCE Shetland Ltd has announced the acquisition of The Glow Up Salon on Lerwick’s Commercial Street.

The company said the “strategic move” marked the first step in its mission to expand its footprint in the local beauty and wellness industry.

Company director Janice Pottinger said: “We are extremely excited to take over The Glow Up Salon, which will officially be renamed Radiance.

“We look forward to building on The Glow Up’s success and introducing new and innovative services to our customers.”

Radiance Shetland is also looking for volunteers to help with training within the team as models.

“We are particularly interested in finding small groups of friends (e.g., bride & bridesmaids, siblings, best friends, or mother and daughters) for this brand-new service,” Pottinger said.

“We also intend to strengthen our skills in men’s haircuts, so we will be looking for willing models to help in this area too.”
