Council / Reduced service on Bluemull Sound
THE BLUEMULL Sound ferry service is to run with a single vessel today (Thursday) due to crew sickness.
The service will run to the Saturday timetable, with all bookings suspended.
Shetland Islands Council (SIC) has apologised for any inconvenience caused.
It is the latest disruption to the ferry service in the North Isles in recent months relating to a lack of cover for staff.
The SIC is in the process of conducting what it calls a “ferries resilience review” which aims to improve the reliability of the current service where possible.
A report with the outcome of that review and recommendations from it will go to councillors at a meeting of the environment and transport committee on 9 September.
