Police / Two people injured by dog at ferry terminal
TWO people were injured by a dog at the Holmsgarth ferry terminal this morning (Thursday).
A spokesperson for Police Scotland confirmed the dog was put down afterwards.
Police inspector Sam Greshon the police were called to the incident at around 8.15am.
“Officers, the dog warden and a veterinarian attended to secure the animal,” the inspector added.
“It was euthanised a short time later. There were no reports of serious injuries. Enquiries are ongoing.
“I would like to thank partner agencies for their support during this incident.”
Police added that they could give no guidance on the type of dog involved in the incident.
NorthLink Ferries confirmed that they had transported the dog on board the overnight ferry to Lerwick, and added that the incident happened after the dog had been handed over to its new owner.
