Arts / New single release from Donald Anderson Band
LOCAL contemporary rock group The Donald Anderson Band have released a new single ahead of a full album next month.
The track One More Twist of the Knife (aka Crime Fiction Salsa) is now available online.
It is taken from their forthcoming second album No Time for Turning Back, which is scheduled to be released on 24 August at a launch gig at Hymhus in Bigton.
The album was recorded at the Mareel recording studio in Lerwick with Tim Matthew and mastered by Shetlander Andrew Tulloch at The Blue Studio in London.
The album artwork was designed by Jono Sandilands and manufacturing undertaken by Birnam CD.
The band started 20 years ago in Scousburgh and over the last couple of decades have performed at events like the folk and blues festivals, as well as the 2011 and 2023 Tall Ships.
They feature Ian Barrie on drums/percussion, Alan McKay on electric/acoustic guitar and vocals, Rick Nickerson on bass and vocals and Donald Anderson on electric/acoustic guitar and vocals.
Their new single also features London-based Nick Hann on soprano sax and Shetland’s own Chris Thomson (First Foot Soldiers, Magic Money Tree Band, Trookers) on keyboards.
Before the album launch however the band will perform at Mareel’s singer-songwriter night on Thursday (1 August) and at the Lerwick Legion for the Rising North festival on Friday 16 August.
