Transport / Bluemull Sound ferry service down to single vessel
THE BLUEMULL Sound ferry was down to a single vessel service for a large part of Friday due to mechanical problems with the Geira.
All bookings were suspended after the early morning fault, with the service operating to a Saturday timetable.
It returned to the normal timetable in the early evening.
Meanwhile in Whalsay the Linga is due to be taken out of service from Monday 29 July to Monday 12 August as she receives an upgrade of her alarms and power management system.
During this period the Fivla will cover the Linga timetable.

Journalism comes at a price and because that price is not being paid in today’s rapidly changing media world, most publishers - national and local - struggle financially despite very healthy audience figures.
Most online publishers have started charging for access to their websites, others have chosen a different route. Shetland News currently has over 600 supporters who are all making small voluntary financial contributions. All funds go towards covering our cost and improving the service further.
