Court / Warrant issued to apprehend man who couldn’t afford to travel to court
A WARRANT to apprehend has been granted after an accused from Glasgow due to stand trial at Lerwick Sheriff Court on Thursday informed the court he could not afford to travel to Shetland.
Gary Guilfoyle from Baillieston is accused of driving dangerously at excessive speed while disqualified and uninsured on the B9073 five years ago, on 28 June 2019 – charges he denies.
Defence solicitor Tommy Allan said he had been asked by Guilfoyle’s solicitor to inform the court that the 33-year-old accused would not be in attendance because “he does not have the finance” to travel to Lerwick.
Procurator fiscal Duncan Mackenzie said that over the years the court had already granted three previous warrants to apprehend Guilfoyle.
The fiscal asked for another such warrant which Sheriff Ian Cruickshank duly granted.
