Community / Bobby Tulloch audiobook proceeds donated to local organisations

A NUMBER of Yell based organisations have received donations from the proceeds of the recently released audiobook Bobby Tulloch’s Shetland: An Islander, His Islands and Their Wildlife.

Burravoe Primary School, Yell Men’s Shed, Yell Art Group and Yell Knitting Group have each received £200 while the Shetland Bird Club also benefitted from a £200 donation.

The Fair Isle Bird Observatory will receive £150.

Produced by Yell resident Adrian Brockless, the 4-CD audiobook, read by the late Bobby Tulloch’s niece Caroline Keith, was released in March this year.

Brockless said he was “delighted” that the project was now beginning to support wildlife and various aspects of community life in Yell.

“I am so grateful to everyone who has purchased a copy and hope that it brings you much joy,” he said.

“Sincere thanks must go to businesses who continue to support the audiobook project – The Aywick Shop (Mary’s), Seabirds and Seals Noss Boat Tours, Fetler Interpretative Centre, Brough Store (Burravoe) and Hugh Harrop’s Shetland Wildlife.”

The audiobook also features two new musical arrangements of Bobby Tulloch’s tunes 100 Shetland Islands and Island Lullaby – the latter co-written with his sister Mary-Ellen.

Brockless added: “Although still relatively small scale at the moment, the hope is that sales will continue as they have done and that people from all over the world who visit Shetland will be able to take a real story of the people and wildlife of Shetland when they leave, knowing that – in a small way – they are contributing to the welfare of wildlife and the community of Yell.”

The audiobook is available UK wide via mail order here.
