SSEN Transmission says work is still suspended in an area of Upper Kergord where a peat slide happened earlier this month.

The incident took place on 7 May in an area where work was being undertaken on the Kergord to Gremista electricity connection project.

This week SSEN confirmed that assessment of the incident is still ongoing.

A spokesperson previously said there were no injuries.

The ongoing Kergord to Gremista connection project involves the installation of new overhead lines and underground cabling ahead of Shetland being linked to the national grid by subsea cable.

The incident received a mention in SSE’s recently published 2023/24 financial report.

It said: “Following a well-publicised incident at the site earlier this month, which resulted in no injuries, work is expected to recommence in stages and the project remains on track to be complete by the end of 2025.”
