Letters / Take back control

Elections beckon: Voters reckon! Shetland beware.

Westminster austerity with copious sleaze
mirrors Holyrood incompetence, and further wheeze.
But why suffer both? No thank you please.
Vote them all no, to sever disease.

So take back control, the sooner started
as Faroe’s done after Danes departed
and free of them thus, its own way chartered,
success follows them in every matter.

Blues offer nowt but strife and trouble
Reds sirens singing offer little other
Green tails wag to tell tall tales – whilst
Yellows speak to no avail, plus other
Yellows’- attire (saltires) flails and fails…

Ignore the hansels as above
promises ever in gilded glove
dunt dem wi da huggistaff
‘n tell dem dat wir gyann aff
Ta dae ta wiz whit fits wiz best,
da Raven Banner ’bun da rest.

Runnicks n byres need a-mukin oot
Tae mak it kirsen fur aa guid fok
n’ no joost fur da idder lot
dat time and space needs nu forgot

But Shelties wears stroods a’ different hue
Nae Tartan here but Fair Isles true

Needs gansey on a candidate new
For autonomy yes, to never rue

Contestant needed of special hew
For centuries now, well over due
So step forward thus an unkan man
Advising us all o’ what Shetlan can.

An’ he maun dae what man can do
To win support fra mony a fru
So vot fur dem t better nurture
Autonomy beckons, to future flourish.

SIC et al – get on with it.
