Space / Rocket manufacturer prepares for ‘hot fire campaign’

GERMAN space company Rocket Factory Augsburg (RFA) is preparing for what is called the “first hot fire campaign” after successfully reassembling the first stage of its RFA one rocket at the SaxaVord Spaceport.

Work has been taking place at the Unst space centre since earlier in April after RFA secured the exclusive use of the Fredo launchpad.

In a short video shared on X (formerly Twitter), the company said it is on track for the first test flight, which it previously said is planned to take place in August.

Last month, SaxaVord become the first fully licensed vertical spaceport in Western Europe after gaining a range control licence from the UK Civil Aviation Authority (CAA).
