Court / Lerwick woman released on bail with special conditions
A TRIAL date has been set for a Lerwick woman who denies behaving in a threatening manner on the town’s public bus service last week.
Sarah Irvine, of the town’s Hillgrind, appeared from custody at Lerwick Sheriff Court on Monday afternoon.
Following lengthy deliberations with the Crown, which opposed bail, Sheriff Ian Cruickshank decided to release the 38-year-old from custody awaiting trial.
The sheriff however imposed a number of special bail conditions including electronic monitoring which requires Irvine to stay at her home address between 7pm and 7am daily.
She is also not allowed to use the town bus service until further notice, and has explicitly been told not to interfere with the electronic equipment.
Irvine is accused of behaving in a threatening or abusive manner on board the bus service between her home address and the town centre last Thursday in that she behaved with an aggressive attitude towards fellow passengers, swore and uttered threats.
Trial has been set for 6 June.
