EMERGENCY services were tasked in the early hours of the morning (Saturday) following reports of a missing person.
The Sumburgh based search and rescue helicopter, coastguard rescue teams the Lerwick Lifeboat assessed the police, with the focus on the coastline from the Knab in Lerwick to Gulberwick.
The person was traced around five hours after the alarm was raised.
Lerwick Lifeboat’s deputy coxswain Tommy Goudie said: “We’re pleased that the missing person was eventually traced, despite our search efforts and those of emergency services colleagues. Our volunteer crew are always ready to respond to a request to launch whenever we might be able to assist.”
