AFTER more than 20 years of being an integral part of the local short term let accommodation business scene, Steve and Gillian Henry have opted to step down their portfolio of nine apartments and revert back to their keystone apartment where it all began – Corbie, located at 63 Burgh Road, Lerwick.

As part of this move to make life easier and more straightforward, the husband and wife team have opted to go back to basics and do away with the various booking apps we all carry on our smartphones these days, and only take direct bookings via their website for their town centre apartment

And to mark the occasion, Corbie has just undergone a deep re-decoration in readiness for its role as Self Catering Shetland’s standalone apartment and is available now for short term lets.

The ground floor apartment with a double bedroom as well as family bedroom sleeps five and has a fully equipped kitchen with large dining table. The living room boasts two comfy leather couches, and an open fire. In addition to the front entrance there is a private back door that leads to a patio area and a shared drying green.

Two years after they became self-catering hosts with Corbie, the Henrys bought The Decca (in 2003), and embarked on a journey of hosting many, many, many… wonderful guests from across the world.

They have offered high quality apartments for tourists, friends and families visiting Shetland, business travellers and indeed many locals coming into town for a few nights.

Now in 2023 the time has come, to be the travellers – both within these islands, and beyond. To this end they have now sold The Decca, and it is no longer available for short term let.

Gillian said: “Nothing has changed with regard to our dedication to offering excellent customer care, attention, and facilities to our guests.

“Indeed, as we have made this major gear shift, we maintained 9.5+ level ratings in Booking.com and have been awarded Superhost status in Airbnb many times, including three times this past year.”

Comments consistently stating how clean their apartments are and how well equipped they were.

“Corbie still maintains this standard and shall continue to do so,” she added.

As we have made the decision to downsize, we have also opted to offer direct bookings only via this page.

“You will see many accommodation providers state that direct rates are best – this is true,” Gillian explains the move. “The other key benefit of direct bookings is the direct communication and accurate information between us and our guests.

“So please check out the information about Corbie. And if you are a regular traveller, then please do save us in your favourites. Our 10 per cent loyalty discount for returning guests within three years still applies. We hope to see you soon.”
