Court / Trial date set as man accused of assault is freed on bail

A TRIAL has been set for later this year after a man from the Greater Manchester area pleaded not guilty to assaulting a woman in Lerwick last week.

Christopher Glover, of Stephen Street, Bury, appeared from custody at the town’s sheriff court on Monday.

The 38-year-old was released on bail with the special condition not to contact or attempt to contact the complainer while awaiting trial on 21 December.

It is alleged that Glover assaulted the woman by pinning her to the floor, placing his hands around her neck thereby restricting her breathing, striking her on the head with a lamp as well as punching her on the head, all to her injury.
