REPAIRS on the Yell ferry Dagalien were completed last night (Sunday) after the vessel suffered storm damage.
The steelwork and welding on the bow visor were damaged during high winds on Saturday when the vessel made “harsh contact” with the linkspan at Ulsta while moving from its berth.
Surveyors are expected to arrive today (Monday) to inspect the Dagalien, with the hope that they approve her return to service.
In the meantime the Yell Sound service has reduced to a single vessel.
THE MET Office has issued a weather warning including Shetland for high winds on Thursday and Friday.

SHETLAND MSP Beatrice Wishart has shown her support for the Wear It Pink campaign for Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
Breast Cancer Now, the research and support charity, is encouraging fundraising by wearing pink on Friday (20 October).
According to the charity, every year in Scotland around 4,800 women and 30 men are diagnosed with breast cancer.
Later this month Breast Cancer UK plans to launch new resources to help understand the risks for men and how to check for signs of breast cancer.
Some common symptoms of breast cancer can include changes in the size or shape of one or both breasts, a lump or swelling in either of your armpits and dimpling on the skin of your breasts.
Wishart said: “Wear It Pink is a fun, easy way to fundraise to help continuing research and support for those diagnosed with breast cancer.
“Around 94 people a week are diagnosed with breast cancer, fundraising efforts can help us learn so much more and hopefully cut that number.”
