Transport / Northwesterly gales set to disrupt ferry services
WITH more gales with gusts of up to 60 miles per hour expected over coming days NorthLink had to adjust its ferry timetable for tonight (Friday) and Saturday.
Due to the adverse conditions tonight’s northbound service will leave Aberdeen four hours ahead of schedule at 3pm.
Meanwhile, the southbound ferry will not call at Kirkwall and sail directly to Aberdeen leaving Lerwick at 5.30pm.
NorthLink warned that this service could be up to an hour late arriving in Aberdeen on Saturday morning.
On Saturday, the southbound sailing from Lerwick will depart four hours later than scheduled at 11pm to avoid the worst of the weather and is expected to arrive in Aberdeen up to three hours late.
Meanwhile, the northbound service on the same day may be up to two hours late in arriving at Lerwick.
All cargo vessel sailings have been cancelled for Friday and Saturday.
