Community / Tingwall Kirk on the market – again

The Church of Scotland sold the building to a private buyer earlier this year, but it has gone back up for sale again

The Tingwall Kirk.

THE HISTORIC Tingwall Kirk is back on the market for a second time in just over a year.

The B-listed building has an asking price of offers over £60,000.

Last year the Church of Scotland put the building on the market as part of its efforts to reduce its estate in Shetland.

It had an asking price of offers over £55,000, and it was sold to a private buyer earlier this year.

However, it is now back up for sale again via estate agent Anderson Strathern.

The building was built around 1790 and has a gross internal floor area of approximately 200 square metres.

It has been described as the “mother church of Shetland” and the site itself is steeped in history, as there has been a church in Tingwall since the 12th Century.

There is a surrounding graveyard, which is owned and maintained by the local authority and is separate to the property.
