Transport / Update expected in near future on sale of Loganair
THERE should be clarity on the sale of Loganair “well before year end”, according to chief executive Johnathan Hinkles.
He told a meeting of Shetland’s external transport forum on Tuesday that a “significant number of interested parties” has been whittled down to a shortlist.
Hinkles said from his knowledge of the sale process, there is nothing that should be a cause for concern for employees or key stakeholders using Loganair services.
He told the meeting that it stands to be a case of “business continuing in its current form” rather than a major airline “swallowing up” Loganair.
Last October it was announced that the sole owners of the company, brothers Stephen and Peter Bond, had decided to “appoint advisors to review options for the sale of Loganair”.
The airline has been serving communities in the Highlands and Islands for more than 60 years.
Hinkles told Tuesday’s meeting that as a company Loganair was in a good position, with no debt and trading profitability.
