Court / Court round up 30 August 2023
SENTENCE has been deferred on a man from Gott after he pleaded guilty to two charges of threatening or abusive behaviour.
Appearing at Lerwick Sheriff Court on Wednesday, 50-year-old Brian Carr admitted sending abusive and threatening messages on 26 June this year.
He also pleaded guilty to shouting, throwing household items, smashing crockery and an iPad at a different address in Gott on 29 June.
A narrative of the facts of the case has been deferred until 4 October when a criminal justice social report will be available.
The court also continues consideration of whether to issue a non-harassment order.
BUTTING another man on the head in an argument at the Lerwick taxi rank resulted in a £300 fine for a young man from Bressay.
Lewis Harkness, of Ham, pleaded guilty to a charge of assault to injury when his case called at Lerwick Sheriff Court on Wednesday.
The incident happened at round 3.30am on 30 April this year.
Defence solicitor Tommy Allan told the court that there may well have been an element of queue jumping that led to the assault.
However, he said his client apologised to the victim the following day and there were no ill feelings left from the incident.
