WITH just two days until the official opening of the 2023 Tall Ships Races in Lerwick, the first large sailing vessels have started to arrive from over the horizon.

The 51 metre Indonesian barque Bima Suci with around 100 sail trainees on board was heading into Lerwick harbour this morning (Monday) to its berth at Morrison Dock.

Lerwick will play host to as many as 40 tall ships until Saturday with most of them expected to arrive between now and Wednesday.

A large entertainment programme for the four day event has been put on.
