AN UNUSUAL Shetland-based music business has received a £3,000 grant with help from Business Gateway.

Island Custom Music was founded last year by partners Inga Scott and Eric Semple.

The business creates unique pieces of music which are written and performed by Scott.

Inga Scott and Eric Semple: “We wouldn’t have a business without Business Gateway.”

The sheet music is presented in aluminium frames, with QR codes to the online recording.

Scott and Semple reached out to Business Gateway to aid them with their plans.

They have since received advice around social media, website creation and applying for funding.

Shetland Islands Council has now awarded them a £3,000 start-up grant to spend on branding, packaging, design and social media.

Scott said: “We wouldn’t have a business without Business Gateway.

“Business Gateway has been the perfect source of mentorship and the first point of guidance for starting up your own business.

“The support we have received is invaluable and helped turn our musical dream into a robust and successful business that is now being enjoyed by so many all over the world.”

Island Custom Music will also have a stall at the Tall Ships Races in Lerwick later this month.
