AN OPEN day at the Noss National Nature Reserve that was due to take place tomorrow (Saturday) has been cancelled.

Guided walks and activities for bairns were planned, as well as a free bus service across Bressay.

But the reserve said on social media that the day has been called off due to weather.

“Due to the forecast for heavy rain tomorrow we have sadly made the decision to cancel Noss Open Day tomorrow,” it said.

“Thank you to all the volunteers who offered up their time to help and sorry to all those who were looking forward to attending – fingers crossed for better weather next year.”

The open day has not been held since 2018. Last summer the island of Noss was closed to the public due to avian flu, with Covid restrictions halting things before that.

The open day also succumbed to the weather in 2019.
