Energy / Power isolated in Westside to allow bird’s nest to be removed from overhead line
MORE than 200 properties in Shetland’s Westside lost power on Tuesday afternoon to allow engineers to safely remove a bird’s nest from an overhead line in the Skeld area.
A spokesperson for SSEN Distribution said the temporary isolation of supply in the Bixter and Reawick areas affected 213 properties.
It is expected that everyone’s power will be back on by 4pm this afternoon at the latest. The power cut was first reported at 2.25pm.
The spokesperson said: “We’d like to apologise to our customers who have been affected by this afternoon’s short interruption to their power supplies, and assure them that our engineers are doing all they can to complete their essential work as safely and quickly as possible.”
