Court / Lerwick man admits embezzling £160,000 from Post Office
THE SENTENCING of a 29-year-old man who admitted embezzling £160,000 from the Lerwick Post Office has been postponed until next month to allow time for the preparation of reports.
Jack Simpson, of North Road, Lerwick, admitted the offence which took place between 4 January and 2 August 2021 while he was employed as a post office clerk in the Commercial Street office.
Narration of what exactly happened during the seven months period has also been postponed until the next court hearing to allow the procurator fiscal to produce a written court submission of the complex details of the case.
At Lerwick Sheriff Court on Wednesday Simpson was ordered to appear again on 13 July, by which time a criminal justice social work report and a restriction of liberty assessment will be available.
