Paid for contentCrime drama filming enters final week

FILMING scenes for the latest instalment to the Shetland crime drama series has entered its last week.

Filming locations this week are:

  • Monday (today) – Kalibrig, Weisdale
  • Tuesday – Scousburgh Sands, Spiggie
  • Wednesday – Tingwall Valley (church and private property in the north end of the area)
  • Thursday – Lerwick Commercial Street (from 11am onwards) and Gilbert Bain Hospital (external scenes only) from 20.00 to 22.00.
  • Friday – Berry Road, Scalloway.

ITV Shetland intends to film at Scousburgh Sands and the immediately adjacent area on Tuesday 13 June between 10am and 10pm.

Location manager Davie Gardner said: “In order to do this safely and effectively the track down to the beach and the adjacent parking area will have to be closed to traffic, parking and pedestrians during this time – as will the beach itself.

“We realised this could be a potential inconvenience to members of the public, and we apologise in advance for this.

“We have also requested – and been granted – permission to park our technical support vehicles in the RSPB parking area adjacent to their hide on the Scousburgh Road adjacent to the Spiggie Loch. Again, apologies for any inconvenience this may cause.

“Finally, we have official requested – and been granted – permission to implement an occasional ‘stop/go’ series of traffic control measures on the adjacent road as detailed in the attached diagram – again for safety related purposes.

“These measures will only be applied on occasions to allow us to safely manage the increased traffic in the area at this time. However, all such ‘holds’ will only apply for a few minutes on each occasion, so we expect any associated disruption or delays to be fairly minimal. Again, though we apologise for any inconvenience this will cause.”

Details of traffic restrictions applicable to filming locations during the week will be published ahead of time as usual.

Should you have any specific issues with these arrangements, or require any further information please contact Andy ‘Mod’ Ross on 07963 713 446 or Lyall Gair on 07786 653 859.
