The work will result in alternative timetables being put in place

The Bigga at Belmont pier.

PLANNED essential maintenance will be carried out on the Belmont and Gutcher ferry linkspans in May and June – with disruption to services expected.

The planned dates for the work at Belmont in Unst are from 7.05pm on Friday 26 May to 6am on Monday 29 May.

For Gutcher in Yell work will be undertaken between Friday 16 June at 7pm and 6am on Monday 19 June, weather dependent.

The maintenance entails major structural works requiring the linkspans to be taken out of use.

During the Belmont works there will be an alternative timetable in place and the service will operate as foot passengers only with access provided via gangway from the vessel to quayside in Uyesound and via the ro-ro ramp at Gutcher.

Any passengers who may require assistance are asked to make themselves known to the crew.

The 1830 on the Friday will be the last service to take vehicles out of Unst from Belmont into Gutcher. The 1855 will be the last service to take vehicles out of Yell from Gutcher into Belmont continuing onto Hamarsness in Fetlar.
