Paid for contentCrime drama filming moves to Bigton
FURTHER scenes for the popular Shetland detective show will be filmed in Bigton and the nearby St Ninian’s Isle beach in coming days.
Production team ITV Shetland will be at Bigton Farm and surrounding areas on Wednesday and Thursday.
Filming will take place between 7am and 8pm on both days.
Location manager Davie Gardner said: “As such we have requested, and been granted, a level of official traffic control over roads in the immediate area during this time and as shown in the accompanying diagram.
“This is necessary in order to safely and effectively manage traffic and carry out our filming process.
“It is currently envisaged that this will NOT extend to a full closure at any point, although the road may, nevertheless, be subject to occasional ‘stop/go’ controls for safe traffic management at various times throughout the day.
“Here again though any traffic ‘holds’ applied during that time will extend to little more than a few minutes on each occasion while actual filming takes place.”
Gardner added that local people should be aware of the production team’s technical support vehicles parked at various safe points within the area, all of which has been agreed with the property owner concerned and Shetland Islands Council.
“Rest assured we will endeavour to keep any impact, disruption and inconvenience to an absolute minimum at all times. The beach itself will remain open for public use,” he said.
As part of this same filming process our larger ‘unit’ of production related vehicles will be located at the Bigton Hall from tonight (18 April) until late evening on Thursday, 20 April.
Gardner said: “Thanks once again for your co-operation and patience in this respect and apologies in advance for any inconvenience caused.”
