Paid for contentSkellister Stores to close on Sunday as crime drama filming moves to Nesting

FILMING for the Shetland crime drama will head to the Nesting area on Sunday (16 April), with the local shop closed for the day as a result.

Filming will take place in and around the Skellister Stores between 7am and 8pm.

Locations manager Davie Gardner said an official “closure” of the adjacent/surrounding road has been granted.

“It is currently envisaged, however, that this will not extend to a full closure of the road at any point, although the road may, nevertheless, be subject to a ‘stop/go’ traffic management system at various times throughout the day,” he said.

“Here again though any ‘holds’ applied to traffic movement during that time will extend to little more than a few minutes at a time while filming takes place.

“Rest assured we will endeavour to keep any impact, disruption and inconvenience to an absolute minimum at all times, with the maintenance of access to local residential and business related properties our priority – including for purposes of animal/livestock welfare too.

As part of the same filming process a larger ‘unit’ of production related vehicles will be located on the site of the old Catfirth naval base nearby.

“Here again we aim to keep any disruption, related noise and any inconvenience to an absolute minimum,” Gardner said.

“However, please be aware of increased traffic movements in the area relating to this and proceed with due caution and attention in this respect.

“Thanks once again for your co-operation and patience re all this. Should, however, you have any issues with these proposals please contact Davie Gardner – Locations Manager – Shetland on 07867 654 509 or Andy ‘Mod’ Ross – Assistant Location Manager on 07963 713 446.”
