Court / Men told to leave Shetland after being bailed
TWO men from the Glasgow area have been ordered to leave Shetland after appearing from custody at Lerwick Sheriff Court on Monday accused of assault to injury.
Christopher McKeown, of Glasgow Road, Barrhead, and Gerald Collins, of Meadow Drive in Glasgow, had their case continued without plea.
But the pair, aged 38 and 37 respectively, were told to leave Shetland by 5pm on Wednesday as part of the bail conditions.
McKeown and Collins were charged with assaulting a man to his injury at the Thule Bar in Lerwick on Saturday (18 March) whilst acting together, by repeatedly punching and kicking him on the head.
They were also accused of behaving in a threatening or abusive manner in the same location whilst acting together by shouting, swearing, uttering threats of violence, challenging others to a fight and acting in an aggressive manner.
Collins was also separately charged with behaving in a threatening or abusive manner at the town’s Esplanade and police station on the same date by shouting, repeatedly uttering threats of violence and threats to damage property, and kicking and striking his head on a police vehicle.
The pair made no plea and were released on bail. The case was continued until 12 April.
