THE LERWICK M&Co store will close on 1 April, it has been confirmed.

M&Co shops are shutting across the country after the company went into administration.

Locally goods have been put on sale for a number of weeks, and staff have now confirmed their last day will be Saturday 1 April.

In a post on social media the Lerwick branch said: “We would like to thank everyone for the support we’ve received during our time of administration.

“As you can imagine, this is a very upsetting time for our staff, so we thank you for the kindness and we hope to see you all in store to say goodbye.”

Living Lerwick manager Emma Miller previously said the closure is a “real shame for the staff who will lose their jobs and also a big loss for our town centre as there is no comparable shop with the wide range and quantity of goods offered”.
