Energy / Viking assembles first turbine sections
SSE Renewables says it reached “another significant milestone” earlier today (Wednesday) with the erection of the first two turbine tower base sections at the Viking Energy wind farm site.
The first two sections were assembled at a turbine site in North Nesting and is visible from the A970, south of the Vidlin junction.
A spokesperson for the company said that the first complete wind turbine was expected to be in place in early April.
Meanwhile the transport of wind turbine components to the site in the central mainland of Shetland continues on a daily basis.
A total of 103 turbines will be installed on the site.
