Council / Planning round-up 26 January
A SMALL cattery is being proposed in Sandwick.
A planning application has been submitted by a resident who already offers home boarding services for dogs.
The cattery structure would be located next to the applicant’s house, offering seven units.
SHETLAND’s ‘glamping’ scene could expand with two new accommodation pods in Bigton.
Plans have been submitted for two glamping pods and a utility building on a family croft.
THE RSPB has now submitted plans for an accessible sea watching hide at by the cliffs at Sumburgh Head.
The hide would measure four metres wide by six metres long and be constructed using a steel and timber frame.
The aim is to provide a better sea and bird viewing experience at the nature reserve, especially when it comes to accessibility.
PLANS have also been lodged to place a mobile catering van next to the charity shop near the Gutcher ferry terminal in Yell.
Subject to gaining the necessary licenses it could open six days a week, 8am to 4pm, potentially offering artisan coffee and hot/cold snacks to takeaway.
A particular aim is to cater for people using the ferry.
PLANNING permission has been granted for a Polycrub and raised beds at the Hymhus community facility in Bigton.
The project would see the community be able to use the facilities.
