AS THE year draws to a close it is worth looking back at the last 12 months to read again what made the news in 2022.
Below we have listed (and linked) the ten most read stories of the year.

Top came a longer piece written by our reporter Chris Cope on the decision by the owners of Vaila, Richard Rowland and Dorotha Rychlik to put the island up for sale. This start was shared more than 23,000 times on social media.

This was followed by the news from June this year of the tragic accident at the converter station construction site at Upper Kergord in which a young man lost his life.

The third most read story was that of the rescue of eight crew from the Peterhead based fishing boat Guiding Star which sank south-east of Shetland after colliding with her sister vessel.
