Court / Man denies rape allegations
A MAN with an address in Northumberland is to stand trial accused of raping two women in Shetland.
Jack Johnson, of Cramlington, faces the allegations which span between 2017 and 2021 at different addresses in Lerwick.
An alleged sex attack on one of the women is said to have involved Johnson putting a pillow over her face and restricting her breathing.
The 31-year-old faces separate accusations of being physically violent to her including claims she was punched, kicked and thrown against a wall.
Johnson later allegedly raped the second woman while she was said to be intoxicated and unable to consent.
Johnson faced a total of eight charges during a hearing at the High Court in Glasgow on Monday.
His lawyers pleaded not guilty, and a trial was fixed for September 2023. Johnson remains on bail meantime.
