Council / Landslide closes A968 Dales Lees road

THE A968 road between Voe and Firth in the north mainland of Shetland has been closed again, this time because of a landslide.

Access for local residents to their homes is still possible.

The land slide half the way up Dales Lees is reported to be blocking more than half the road.

Shetland Islands Council said this morning that the closure of the road could take several days as it will take time to assess the stability of the area in the immediate vicinity.

Anyone travelling to and from the Toft ferry terminal is advised to allow for extra time when using the longer route via Brae and the B9076 Graven road.

The A968 Dales Lees road was closed for several days last week after heavy snow brought down power lines.
